Ginger Harris and Brent Taylor – 12 x 12 Featured Agents May 2020

Yes, we are in the midst of a pandemic and under varying degrees of lockdown, but that’s not stopping these agents from accepting submissions from our 12 x 12 GOLD members in May. Our 2020 Little GOLDen Book members will be able to choose one of these two agents to submit their manuscript to this month.

Ginger Harris of Liza Royce Agency will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 GOLD members May 1-15. Brent Taylor of Triada US Literary will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 GOLD members May 16-31. Ginger’s profile appears first, followed by Brent’s. Please read BOTH and then decide who would be the best fit for your work.

Ginger Harris – Liza Royce Agency

A little bit about Ginger:

“Liza Fleissig and Ginger Harris-Dontzin opened the Liza Royce Agency (LRA) in early 2011. Ginger graduated from Boston University with a BA and Nova Southeaster University, Shepard Broad Law Center Law School with a JD, Ginger also brings 20 years of litigation and negotiating experience to the field. On the children’s side of publishing, being a mother to a young boy, she is interested in everything from picture books, to middle grade and young adult.”

Here is what Ginger had to say when asked what she is looking for in picture books today:

“Can’t really advise on what I’m looking for and not looking for —that is, if a manuscript is clever and it’s a story that’s unique/not really been done before (or has a twist), that will generally spark my interest.”

This is Ginger’s 6th year as a 12 x 12 Featured Agent. Please see her previous profile posts HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE. Here are a couple updated resources for Ginger:

Agent Brent Taylor - Triada USA

Brent Taylor – Triada US Literary

A little bit about Brent:

“Brent Taylor is a literary agent and subsidiary rights manager at Triada US. He joined the agency in 2014 to build a list of picture books, middle grade, and YA. He is interested in fiction, non-fiction, and heavily illustrated projects.”

When asked what he’s looking for in picture book submissions, Brent replied:

“I am seeking picture book projects from authors and author-illustrators. My taste in this category covers a wide range: I love picture books that are fun and bonkers, as well as ones that are more literary. I’m open to fiction, non-fiction, and picture books in unusual formats or styles—verse, rhyme, comics, etc. Some of my favorite picture books are Julián Is a Mermaid by Jessica Love, Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal, My Papi Has a Motorcycle by Isabel Quintero and Zeke Peña, The Dress and the Girl by Camille Andros and Julie Morstad, and The Sound of Silence by Katrina Goldsaito and Julia Kuo. Some of the picture books I’ve worked on include Prince & Knight by Daniel Haack, Seven Bad Cats by Moe Bonneau, and Pies from Nowhere by Dee Romito. Some forthcoming picture books on my list include Poultrygeist by Eric Geron, Test This Book by Louie Zong, and I’ll Go and Come Back by Rajani LaRocca. I’m looking for picture books with an energy that pops off the page, that kids have never seen before, and that will turn them into life-long readers.”
