Liza Fleissig, Ginger Harris & John Cusick – Featured Agents February 2015

Little GOLDen Book members of 12 x 12 will be able to choose one of two agents to submit their manuscript to each month. We are kicking off 2015 with PHENOMS in the agenting world. In fact, I met Liza, Ginger, and John for the first time at the same conference a few years ago. All I can say is I am glad I don’t have to choose between them. They are all whip-smart, dedicated, passionate, and FUN! Show ’em your best stuff, people! 🙂

Liza Fleissig and Ginger Harris will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 Gold members February 1-14. John Cusick from Greenhouse Literary will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 Gold members February 15-28. Liza & Ginger’s profiles appear first, followed by John’s. Please read BOTH and then decide who would be the best fit for your work.

John Cusick

John Cusick

A little bit about John from the Greenhouse Literary website:

John Cusick joined Greenhouse in January 2013 after several years with a small New York agency, where he began as an assistant and rose to be an agent with a fast-developing client list. As well as being a YA author in his own right, John is a sought-after speaker on writing, both at writers’ conferences and via webinars.

What John is seeking: Fiction by North American authors, from Picture Books and Middle Grade through Young Adult. When I asked John what kind of picture books he looks for, this is what he said:

“I’m seeking authors and author/illustrators. I like punchy, funny picture books with great characters. Story is very important to me, so I’m also looking for strong plot arcs with conflict and surprising endings. For word-count, I’m seeking projects under 800 words.”

John was a featured agent in 2013 and 2014. You can see his extensive profile posts here and here. Below are a few updated resources for John:

  • John talk picture with Heather Ayris Burnell here.
  • Be sure to check out his blog!
  • John explains How to Lose an Agent in 10 Steps here.
  • Interview with Squam Lake Writing Retreat here.

  1. Clarification: Is JOHN HARRIS a typo and the same person as John Cusick? Or is he related to Ginger Harris? or is it a third /fourth person?
Above it says: (note name of 3rd agent):
