It turns out October was an auspicious month for me. I wrote not one, but TWO new drafts (although I am going to count the second one for November because “It’s my challenge and I’ll do what I want to…” LOL). I also revised yet another draft. To top it all off, I just spent a wonderful weekend in Austin at The Writing Barn for a Picture Book Intensive. I met quite a few 12 x 12 members I hadn’t met before, got plenty of inspiration, AND wrote that second draft of the month.
Now it’s your turn!
Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in October? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. Our prize comes from this month’s Featured Author Katey Howes. One lucky winner will get a picture book manuscript and query critique!

I revised an ms and wrote a draft for October. I can’t believe November is tomorrow!!
I revised my September ms as I went through Susan a Leonard Hill’s “Making Picture Book Magic” online course. I also wrote a very rough draft of a new manuscript.
I wrote a new manuscript in October and revised an older one again. I want my ms to shine. Thanks to my 12 X 12 Critiques it is getting there.
Where did the month go? It doesn’t seem possible that today is the first day of November… and before you know it the holidays will be here.
October has been a so-so month for me… I wrote a Halloween PB which hopefully will be revised this coming month.
I also revised and submitted one of my older PB manuscripts and sent it to the 12 x 12 October Agent and am still working on the revisions of my chapter book, Anya.
Hopefully I can go over both my PB and chapter book manuscript and submit them before Thanksgiving.
I’m not entirely sure where October went, but I do know I’m in a writing slump. My drafts are short & ugly, I feel like my ideas are squat. Yet I keep coming back to the dream that I too, will have my picture book in libraries and stores (and hopefully before I hit 50!). Slumps stink but the ember of a dream still burns
I revised a manuscript, wrote a query letter, and sent both off to an agent. On to the next picture book now…
So awesome ! Progress in baby steps!
Julie, I’m impressed with your month’s accomplishments… and, unfortunately, jealous because I did NOT (admitting it, owning it) write a draft this month — er, in October. “It’s my challenge and I’ll do what I want to”– L . O . L . ! !
Didn’t revise, even. My creative outlet this month was Halloween costuming, props, & the like. But here’s to November’s potential!
I wrote a new story and revised another. I cannot believe the year is almost up.
A very busy month with lots of encouragement from critique friends!
It has been a busy month, but writing had its time too.
