Read through our February agent profiles and decide which one is the best fit for you and your work. Then read the guidelines on the forum as you prepare your submission. Be sure to double-check everything before you hit the send button.

Little GOLDen Book members can choose one of these two agents to submit their manuscript to in February. (If you are a SILVER member, you may use this info for research. Check out our How to Use 12 x 12 Featured Agent Posts article here.)

Christie Megill of The CAT Agency will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 GOLD members from February 1-15.  Charlotte Wenger of The Prospect Agency will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 GOLD members from February 16-28. Christie’s profile appears first, followed by Charlotte’s.

Here we go!

Christie Megill - Featured AgentChristie Megill of The CAT Agency

A little bit about Christie:

Christie Megill joined The CAT Agency as an Associate Agent in 2022 after interning with Writers House, Triada US, and Cardinal Rule Press. She previously worked in the editorial department at an academic press and as a children’s bookseller before gaining experience in elementary education as a classroom teacher, curriculum designer, and avid picture book reader. Born and raised in Connecticut, she now considers New York City her forever home.

Christie is eager to begin building a list of picture book authors and author/illustrators, offering long-term support in their careers and creative journeys. While her taste is extremely broad, she’s especially excited to find fresh stories from voices that have previously been underrepresented.

When asked what she’s looking for in submissions, Christie replied:

“While my taste is broad, I’m very excited to find fresh stories and artwork from voices that have previously been underrepresented. I especially love clever humor, spooky stories, social emotional narratives, and I always like to see layers and depth, in addition to skilled writing. I’m not a good fit for books on grief; gross-out humor; or family changes like new babies, moving houses, or divorce.”

Christie has been a 12 x 12 Featured Agent in previously. Find her previous profile posts here and here. Here are some additional resources for your research:

A little bit about Charlotte:

Born and raised in Pennsylvania and Virginia, Charlotte Wenger grew up with a bookish, editorial mind but was first drawn to publishing work in college. She then worked for a publishing services company in Philadelphia until shipping up to Boston to earn her MA in Children’s Literature from Simmons. After gaining editorial, sales, and agency experience, she became an associate editor for Page Street Kids, where she loved working with debut talent and building relationships with authors and illustrators.

Charlotte is an agent at Prospect Agency. She brings the same mindset to agenting, valuing the developmental and relational work that goes into creating successful stories and fostering long-lasting collaborations. She also serves on the national advisory board of the Mazza Museum, the world’s largest collection of original artwork by children’s book illustrators, and enjoys music and adventuring outdoors in her free time.

When asked what she’s looking for in picture book submissions, Charlotte shared this:

“My picture book interests range from the gentle heart of Ready to Soar by Cori Doerrfeld to the quirky humor of Mr. S by Monica Arnaldo, as well as nonfiction like How Do You Spell Unfair?: MacNolia Cox and the National Spelling Bee by Carole Boston Weatherford, illus. by Frank Morrison, and Glitter Everywhere! Where It Came From, Where It’s Found, and Where It’s Going by Chris Barton, illus. by Chaaya Prabhat. I’m especially looking for author-illustrators these days, and one of my favorite non-client books of 2024 was Freya Blackwood’s The Boy and the Elephant.”

Charlotte was a Featured Agent previously. You can find her previous profile posts here, here, here, and here. Additional resources are below:
