Charlotte Wenger 200x300

Charlotte Wenger – Prospect Agency

A little bit about Charlotte:

“Born and raised in Pennsylvania and Virginia, Charlotte Wenger grew up with a bookish, editorial mind but was first drawn to publishing work in college. She then worked for a publishing services company in Philadelphia until shipping up to Boston to earn her MA in Children’s Literature from Simmons. After gaining editorial, sales, and agency experience, she became an associate editor for Page Street Kids, where she loved working with debut talent and building relationships with authors and illustrators. She brings the same mindset to agenting, valuing the developmental and relational work that goes into creating successful stories and fostering long-lasting collaborations. She also serves on the national advisory board of the Mazza Museum, the world’s largest collection of original artwork by children’s book illustrators, and enjoys music and adventuring outdoors in her free time.’”

We asked Charlotte what she’s looking for in picture books. Here’s what she had to say:

“I’m drawn to both silly and ‘serious’ texts. I especially like witty humor and stories that have heart without being saccharine or didactic. I’d love to see more non-biography narrative nonfiction and illustrators who are developing their writing toward the goal of author-illustrating. I’m picky about rhyme but love alliteration. I updated my Manuscript Wish List profile at the beginning of 2021, so that’s a great place to reference more specifics.”

Emily Keyes - Fuse Literary

Emily S. Keyes – Fuse Literary

A little bit about Emily

Emily S. Keyes joined Fuse Literary in 2013. Previously she worked at the L. Perkins Agency as a contracts manager and associate agent. Before entering the world of agenting, she worked in the contracts department of Simon & Schuster, Inc where she handled copyright, reversion of rights, and assisted with author contracts. In 2008, she graduated from New York University’s Center for Publishing. She uses her knowledge of contracts, copyright, and the publishing business to benefit her clients and the Fuse team.”

When asked what she’s looking for in picture book submissions, Emily replied:

“I love multicultural picture books (like HOW ALMA GOT HER NAME), sweet and simple stories (like TRUMAN) . I like humor, one of my most successful picture book authors–Douglas Rees–has a very silly style. But there has to be something to it, his book BUTTERCUP THE BIGFOOT is a good example of stuff I’d like to see more of.”

This is Emily’s first year as a 12 x 12 Featured Agent. Here are some resources for Emily:
