Our 2021 Little GOLDen Book members will be able to choose one of these two agents to submit their manuscript to in November. (If you are a SILVER member, you may use this info for research. Check out our How to Use 12 x 12 Featured Agent Posts article here.)

Andrea Morrison of Writers House will be accepting picture book submissions from 12 x 12 GOLD members November 16-30. Alexandra’s profile appears first, followed by Andrea’s. Please read BOTH and then decide who would be the best fit for your work.

Alexandra Weiss of Azantian Literary AgencyAlexandra Weiss of Azantian Literary Agency

A little bit about Alexandra:

Alexandra Weiss joined the world of publishing in 2016, as an associate agent with the Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency. In 2021, she joined Azantian Literary Agency where she represents fiction and nonfiction picture books, middle grade, young adult, graphic novels, and select adult nonfiction. She holds a BFA in creative writing and publishing from Columbia College Chicago and has written for Bustle and Buzzfeed, among others. She regularly volunteers with literary organizations and has a soft spot for working with young readers. When she isn’t reading or writing, she’s probably baking up a storm or snuggling with her cat.

When asked what she’s looking for, Alexandra replied:

“I love heartfelt, funny, and whimsical picture books. If you have a clever concept that’s never been done before or provides a fresh twist on a classic tale (such as PRINCE AND KNIGHT), please send it my way. I would love to see more picture books featuring disabled and neurodiverse characters. I’m also always searching for picture books that introduce STEAM concepts and make complex or unknown topics approachable (and fun!) for young readers. I’m also interested in representing more author/illustrators. I enjoy a lot of different styles but generally lean toward art that’s unique, bold, and playful.”

Alexandra has been a Featured Agent previously. You can see our previous profiles here, here, and here. Here are a few more resources for Alexandra:

Andrea Morrison of Writers House

A little bit about Andrea:

Andrea Morrison started at Writers House as an intern and worked her way up to Agent. She’s had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators in genres ranging from picture books to middle grade and YA to adult literary fiction and nonfiction. Having studied Literature/Writing at University of California, San Diego and having earned her MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, Andrea is hands-on editorially. She’s particularly excited about author/illustrator picture books, and in terms of picture book manuscripts she loves either incredibly heartfelt and lyrical texts…and fall-off-your-chair hilarious texts! Most importantly, she’s looking for unforgettable characters that need to be heard—for stories that grab your heart and don’t let it go, even after they’re finished.

When asked what she’s looking for in picture books, Andrea replied:

“I’m open to a wide variety of picture books! In terms of story, I love anything laugh-out-loud hilarious, and also more lyrical, poignant stories. I am particularly interested in very memorable characters that kids will want to read about night after night, or introducing children to concepts that they may not be as familiar with. In short, I’m very open and would love to see unique, standout texts or author/illustrator submissions.”
