Do You Want to Write 12 Picture Books in 12 Months? | Learn More!

12 x 12 September 2020 Check-In!

Well, it looks like I totally missed our ACTUAL check-in day, so I’m writing this on October 1st. We are in the final quarter of 2020. I did not write a new draft in September, but I did complete one revision and worked on another. Revision is easier for me that drafting these days. How about you?

Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in September? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. September Featured Author Julie Rowan-Zoch is offering one lucky 12 x 12 member a signed copy of LOUIS!

  1. This was a very good month. Once story revised a couple time, another one written in a whole new way, and a story written for an entry in the Fall Frenzy Contest. And yesterday I made something resembling art, not just sketches.

  2. I wrote a draft and revised. I finally found motivation after a dry spell. I was motivated by FallWritingFrenzy 🙂 Now, I’m looking forward to Saturday and PBSummit 2020! Toe tapping into October!

  3. I just about scraped in with a first draft on the last day of September – definitely skin of the teeth time and probably the roughest draft I’ve EVER done, but it’s there, on the page, ready for me to breath a bit more life into it. It was a month of passes from agents, so I wasn’t feeling very enthusiastic about my writing or indeed creative at all, so I dug into some learning and writing exercises to try and get a little spark going again. Also managed a couple of revisions early on (prior to the sequence of passes), so I can look back on that fairly happily.

  4. Hey, Julie. I’m right there with you. Lately it’s been like pulling teeth to make my brain work on new drafts! I’m forcing it (my brain) to behave and help, at least a little! Revising seems much more manageable. I have so many great ideas, but my brain says…no…we are not doing that today. I was happy that I managed to force my brain to submit and help me out a bit on a new draft this month. Happy October! (and WOW, where did this year go???)

  5. Louis looks like fun. I did a wee bit of revision on a very short manuscript. I’m counting it as a success. Thanks Julie for keeping us thinking about it.

  6. ~Sigh~ No new draft. No revision. I didn’t meet my own expectations for the month, but I’m not going to beat myself up about it cuz this is supposed to be fun! I’ve deprived myself of fun! (Shrug?)

  7. Another very slow month due to hitting the pandemic wall, writing was like pulling teeth but I did manage to write one draft of a new Storystorm idea along with revising an older Storystorm story.
