Do You Want to Write 12 Picture Books in 12 Months? | Learn More!

12 x 12 September 2019 Check-In!

Well, I did it! I broke the curse of the past several months and wrote a new draft! It might be the worst draft I’ve ever written, but it felt good to break that barrier. And I revised another draft. So I’m two for two for September!

What about you?

Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in September? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. September Featured Author Lynne Marie is offering a copy of her book MOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE SCARES to one lucky winner this month!

  1. Yes I nearly missed Lynne Marie’s post. But I’ve made great headway with two new drafts and revision. Whew! I didn’t think I would. But it surprises me what one can do when and idea comes to you.

  2. September was a series of up and downs. Great SCBWI conference! Experimenting with different structures helped me take an idea for a picture book and make it work!

  3. What a tough month September has been. I’ve been manic at work and haven’t managed to find the energy to write much. Pulled together the roughest of rough first drafts, but didn’t get any revision done … first month I’ve missed doing revisions since January 2018. Feeling a little dispirited, but determined to get things moving again next month!

  4. Such an inspiration post! I love the idea of writing with purpose. I need to work on that next. This year has been fantastic (my first year with 12x!12) in creating new material. I have several new drafts, a bunch of sparkly new ideas, and I’m close to submitting a couple final drafts (which I’m polishing now). So, thanks for the push!

  5. Once again I did not accomplish what I wanted to this month. I am so sick of feeling like crap!! I did manage to write a new draft and I revised one of my old Storystorm stories.

  6. Well, I *thought* I had both written AND revised stories in September, but turns out… that was AUGUST! What happened to September??! “Here I come, October!” Trisha said with (nooo, nOT “futility,” thank you, autocorrect… ) ferocity.

  7. Lynne Marie, you are an inspiring writer AND person. Brava! Loved your thoughts in the Children’s Book Academy course – The Best!
