Do You Want to Write 12 Picture Books in 12 Months? | Learn More!

12 x 12 September 2018 Check-In!

No new draft. Whomp Whomp. BUT I did get loads of revision done on two different manuscripts. Both are getting very, very close. My goal for the year was to have three submission-ready manuscripts in my agent’s hands. I’ve already got one, and I’m well on my way to two more. So it looks like I will meet that goal or die trying.

How about you?

Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in September? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. One lucky winner will receive a copy of HEY! HEY! HAY! from this month’s Featured Author Christy Mihaly.

  1. Researching takes a chunk of time, doesn’t it? I wish I could say that I have a whole new piece to share. I do have a whole new manuscript because of the massive revision. The research will push my October manuscript onto the keyboard.

  2. Somehow the start of school kicked me into gear after a kind of topsy-turvy summer. Writing time became precious and so I was glad I had signed up for a conference in which a manuscript was required, so I actually finished a draft. Then I revised a bunch of ms–whew!–and now have plans for more revisions and new work in October. It feels good to do what I’m supposed to be doing!

  3. September was busy, but I wrote a draft and managed 3 revisions. October and the remains of 2018 are going to whiz! I’m working hard to keep up-LOL PB Summit 2018 is just a few days away-WOOT!

  4. After a bit of drought I finished a new draft! My critique group is starting back up after a summer hiatus, too, so even more of a kick in the pants!

  5. I polished a picture book for an R&R. I revised an easy chapter book for my critique group. Now I’m waiting to hear what they’ll say on what’s good, what to improve.

  6. Completed the first draft of a story that’s been bubbling around in my head, with odd scribbled notes for a couple of months. Plus, reworked three different manuscripts – sometimes a tweak and sometimes more major! The nights are drawing in and the leaves are turning … time to cosy up to the PC and get writing!

  7. Hard to believe it’s already October! I wrote a new draft, revised a few, worked on edits for my novel and am finishing up an illustration for new art for a dummy. Onward and upward!

  8. Re-illustrated my OP book that was published in 2003. New updated art. Reworked/edited an old manuscript that was in the elephant drawer, and got a wonderful critique from my 12×12 critique partners. I will have aprox. 3-4 dummies/ms. ready soon for submission in search of a literary agent. And in between that had an illustration project come thru. Been busy, just need to keep my confidence up to submit!

  9. So after basically taking August off, I got my head back together and spent September in the library reading PBs all month. I had the best time. Even brought a bunch home for my college kids to read at dinner one weekend. It was a blast. Highly recommend doing that. And…I got a draft done, some revisions, illustrations and sent queries. So, now I’m feeling good about October.

  10. Wow, I finally found this email. I knew you said it was going to be late on fb, and then I was sick as a dog. Surprised it was posted Oct 1. Oh well. Writing and revisions continue. 🙂

  11. Fall is finally here, the trees are changing into their best, the temperatures are dropping into the 30’s overnight and darkness is coming earlier than before …

I added another rough draft from my list of Storystorm ideas, and also revised another picture book that I wrote for this year’s NaPiBoWriWee. I also revised a picture book as part of this month’s ChaBooCha and expanded it into a chapter book,
