Do You Want to Write 12 Picture Books in 12 Months? | Learn More!

12 x 12 October Check-In!

Hello wizards, witches, and warlocks–otherwise known as picture book authors!

I hope you had a MONSTER month of writing and revising. Despite the fact that my very bones are aching to write something new, I spent my writing time this month deep in revisions–again. They were quite satisfying though, and necessary. NEXT month, I will report at least one new manuscript. I mean it! 🙂

Now tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in October? Let us know in the comments and in the Rafflecopter. This month’s winner will win BOO-LA-LA WITCH SPA, SNOOZEFEST, and CRANKENSTEIN from our October Featured Author Samantha Berger! Happy Halloween and Good luck to YOU!

Samantha Berger Book Bundle

Here is what you need to do to check in for a chance to win a bundle of books from Samantha Berger:

  1. See the Rafflecopter widget at the end of this post that says “3 Books from Samantha Berger” at the top.
  2. Click on the “Comment on Samantha’s Blog Post” button. It will reveal the task, which is to comment on Samantha’s blog post. If you haven’t comment yet, you can click HERE and comment. Commenting on Samantha’s Featured Author post and clicking enter will get you one entry in this month’s Rafflecopter whether you completed a draft or not. When you click ENTER on that option in Rafflecopter, the next two options will open up.
  3. Click on the “Wrote a PB Manuscript” button. This will ask if you completed a PB draft in October. If you did, click ENTER, if you did not, move on to the next step.
  4. Click on the last “Revised a PB Manuscript” button. This will ask if you revised a PB in October. If you did, click ENTER. If not, move on to the next step.
  5. Submit your entry. Rafflecopter will track your points.

You have until midnight Eastern on November 1st to enter your results. Rafflecopter will draw a winner and I’ll announce it on the blog on November 2nd.

Two months to go! We’re coming down to the wire. You’ve got this!

  1. I managed to squeak out a really rough draft, but it’s a story I’m excited about so will definitely work on the revisions. And also worked on revisions on two previous drafts.

  2. I’ve had a busy month even if it doesn’t feel like it. I edited two books at least twice, I worked on my pitches for four different books to pitch in PbPitch and worked on my covering letters. I also, think I have a new rough idea for a November draft. I might not have written the amount of picture books I would have liked but I’ve got a small number of polished ones 🙂

  3. Happy Halloween, Julie! October has been a rollicking roller coaster for me…in a good way. Because of Susanna Hill’s Halloweensie Contest, I totally got my October pb draft completed. And I just did a total rewrite/revise of an older manuscript that Essie asked to see. And I truly think it is so much better than it was before.

  4. That’s some Halloween book selection! This month was a good month- 1 PB, 1 MG idea with 1.5 chapters done, and some more ideas…I feel like I got out of my 8 month long slump!

  5. This month produced the roughest rough draft. Maybe more of a chart of what’s to happen. But I’m loving the revisions I’ve got going on. I see that as a success.

  6. A good month for sure! Rewrote a PB rhyming and also got an excellent critique from a published author. So now need to start polishing on all my mistakes. This program is an excellent help to drive me forward. Thank you!
