Helloooo everyone! It’s been quite a month for me AND 12 x 12! I cannot report having written a new draft, but I did revise one. I also WON AN AWARD – The Crystal Kite for the Southwest Region. It’s the first major award I’ve ever won, and needless to say, I am so honored and grateful.
If that wasn’t enough, Kelli and I spent 4 days on the ocean in San Diego planning 12 x 12 in 2025 (we’re so excited), AND attending the American Library Association Annual Conference, where we feted all the 12 x 12 members there who were signing books or otherwise participating. It was the BEST end of the first half of what has already been an incredible year.
What about you?
- Did you complete a draft of a new picture book story in June?
- Did you complete a revision of a previous picture book manuscript in June?
- Did you post a review of a 12 x 12 member book on Amazon, GoodReads, or Barnes and Noble?
- Did you request that your local library purchase a 12 x 12 member’s book that they don’t currently have in circulation?
Let us know in the Rafflecopter and the comments.

June was a beautiful month and full of possibilities. I wrote a new draft and revised a bit on one I feel is close to being ready.
Congrats on a great month Julie!
I’m glad the June check-in is still available, it took me awhile to get to a laptop since I haven’t been feeling well. I did get a lot done this month though. I started a new draft about making tea, I edited two older MS, and I reviewed Over, Bear! by Julie Hedlund on Goodreads!
June was a good month for me because I revised older drafts that had been sitting on back burners. I felt all these stories needed my attention so I spent most of June submitting them to my various critique groups. They are all closer to being ready and hope to send them out for querying very soon. I was also able to
write reviews for several critique partners on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I truly enjoy sending out reviews for others since they are so very important in this industry of ours. I hope to spend most of the rest of the summer querying agents since I hope to land one before this year ends!!
