June was an extremely up and down month for me, both personally and professionally. I expect that will continue into July and, as such, I doubt if I will get much writing done. Sometimes non-writing life takes center stage.
BUT, I am focusing on the positive, and there is a huge positive. While I didn’t write a new draft this month, I did sell a book! And not just any book, but the book of my heart that I have been working on for EIGHT YEARS and submitting for at least four. All that love and persistence did finally pay off, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. In retrospect, perhaps the deal came at the perfect time – when I really needed a win. Funny how that works sometimes, right?
Tell us YOUR progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in June? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. June Featured Author Mindy Yuksel is offering one 12 x 12 member a copy of IN MY MOSQUE!

Writing was very slow this month, but I did manage to write the draft of a new manuscript as well as revise an older Storystorm manuscript that I’m thinking of making it into a picture book instead of a chapter book
This was a harder month than most, and I anticipate July being may be easier. I feel it’s harder to write in the summer months because of needing to relax and other events. But I did pull through and for that I’m glad. Will aim to get a draft/revision done early in July! Loved this article as well
Summer heat has me inside and on my computer. I wrote a draft and did revisions on a couple of mss.

Yes, I did revise a draft this month–and began a new picture book story as well! Woo-hoo!
I wrote one new manuscript. But it was hard to do. Summer and a little more freedom to move around and visit with friends and family really kept me from doing much.
I considered I did a revision…not final by any definition but progressing slowly!
Writing has been slow, but I wrote a bad first draft, revised almost daily, queried 12, and received seven rejections, of which four were personalized! Failing forward!
June started very well with lots of revision work and a couple of submissions to agents. But then in the second half of the month, I started to struggle – getting 2 passes in 24 hours and critiques on work I thought was pretty much there came back with all sorts of “problems”. So my confidence took a tumble and I very nearly didn’t manage a first draft but I did keep on going and managed to get one done on the last day of the month.
I always forget to check in, but this month I revised two manuscripts and actually wrote a new draft (very “drafty” of course.)
I got some revisions done in June. They get better every time I work on them.
Congratulations on selling your book Julie!! That must have felt so good after EIGHT years of working on it. That is a big win!! This month, I significantly revised an old manuscript that has been shelved which I think brought it back into the light. I also wrote a brand new story.
I’m going to end with a huge thank you to Mindy Yuksel for offering a copy of her gorgeous book to a 12×12 member. 🙂
Beautiful cover illustration!
Congratulations, Julie!
June was a productive month and I learned A LOT, but it felt like a ten mile hike. Trudging, total re-write, “Oh, Heck” better start with a fresh piece of paper kind-of-month. =-) But air gets thinner when you get close to the top of the mountain, right?
Congratulations on your sale, Julie!! I have also had many ups and downs lately, so can empathize. Although I have no new manuscripts this month, I am so excited to be starting a PBChat mentorship with Vivian Kirkfield!! And, I have to tell you that the manuscript I submitted to her was a manuscript I finished writing and revised during 12 x12…and it is the only one I’ve completed yet this year. So even with the ups and downs and not a lot of time to write, good things can still happen!! And I’m so happy that 12 X 12 is part of my journey this year!!!
I didn’t write a new draft, but I did revise my March manuscript and submitted it this week. Fingers crossed!
It’s been hard to focus at times due to family bereavement but I’ve managed to catch up with webinars and researching mentor texts.
