Do You Want to Write 12 Picture Books in 12 Months? | Learn More!

12 x 12 June 2020 Check-In!

We are halfway through the 12 x 12 challenge in 2020, and I have to say, I cannot imagine how I would have gotten through these past few months without you all! Writing and being creative is so difficult when the world is on fire, isn’t it? But it sure helps to have others who know exactly what you are going through. THANK YOU all for showing up, even if it’s just to continue putting consciousness into children’s books.

Somehow, I DID manage to write a new draft in June. It’s one my agent and I are pretty excited about for its timeliness, so we’ll see. More importantly, just today my agent sent a “revise and re-submit” of my PB bio back to my editor! Please send any and all good vibes my way for that one. It is the book of my heart, and I’ve been working on it in one form or another for about 5 years. (Yes, you read that correctly)

Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in June? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. June Featured Author Gabi Snyder is giving away a copy of her book TWO DOGS ON A TRIKE to one lucky 12 x 12 member!

  1. I wrote a draft and revised in June. It’s been tough to organize my thoughts, but this kidlit community pushes me forward. Feeling grateful.

  2. Another agonizingly slow month, but this time it wasn’t due to my writing but from falling in the dark (the power had gone out) and breaking 3 ribs which resulted in a 12-day stay in the hospital.

I did manage to write one draft of a new STORYSTORM idea as well as revising an older STORYSTORM story.

  3. So excited to possibly read Two Dogs on a Trike. Sounds hilarious and heartwarming. And I wrote a draft in June and edited a bunch of drafts. Here’s to 12 drafts in 12 months! Well on my way so far with ten written and eight actually sounding fairly good (we aren’t talking about the other two.) YAY!

  4. Managed to pull a new draft out of the bag this month from somewhere! Have spent quite a bit of time revising three manuscripts that I’m hoping are almost submission ready now … but can I stop myself tinkering???? Also submitted to three agents, participated in PBPitch and applied to a mentorship programme. Now that I’m looking back, I appear to have achieved more than I thought I had! Roll on July.

  5. Wow! March lasted about 9 years, and then suddenly, here we are in July! Hanging in there…

  6. Although I worked on a few illustrations, I didn’t get a new draft written nor did I revise one. Just a slow month for me I guess with all the COVID-19. But this is a new month, and I’m working on a draft today.

  7. I wrote *2* new drafts in June, considering myself just one month short now. I was ready to jump into NaPiBoWriWee, which is delayed, and so I have quite a few ideas brewing and waiting for me to craft them.
