Do You Want to Write 12 Picture Books in 12 Months? | Learn More!

12 x 12 July 2019 Check-In!

Well you guys, I am coming here yet another time with no manuscript in hand. It’s been a tough year for sure, but I NEED to get back to writing. When I go this long without something new, I feel like it’s not just myself I’m letting down, but also all of you. For anyone else who’s struggled, especially since it’s summer, I’m sending you a virtual hug. JUST KEEP SWIMMING!

What about you?

Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in July? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. July Featured Author Lindsay Leslie is offering a copy of her book NOVA THE STAR EATER and a picture book manuscript critique to one lucky winner this month!

  1. My busy two-year-old granddaughter provided inspiration for a story with her new dress. We spent the morning finding things to put into and pull out of her pocket. I also revised two manuscripts and wrote twenty pages of my very first novel. All in all, a very inspiring month.

  2. I write GLORIA LOST HER GLOW; and with the help of 12x12ers revised the manuscript. My comment about Lindsey Leslie’s post regards “dummies.” She gave good advise, which I follow, by creating a dummy for each book I write. Like Lindsey said..a dummy helps with page turns and pacing.

  3. Omigosh, I have to get my hands on “Nova the Star Eater”! Adding that to my list *right now.*
Like Julie, I did not get a draft written in July. But I *have* gotten up earlier and dedicated at least 45mins before my workout to writing… THREE times this week, even (since this is me trying something new).

  4. I never got the check-in email–very strange, because I am getting other messages. And yes, I did check junk mail and double-checked my trash. Oh, well.

  5. I never got the check in email either. Something is very strange here since I see others with the same problem.
