Well, here we are. The final day of the final month of the 2022 12 x 12 Picture Book Writing Challenge. The last blog post of the year on a shiny new, fully-redesigned website! I think it’s apropos of this time of year – old and new coming together. Honoring where we’ve been and looking forward to the future.
Okay, okay, enough philosophizing. It’s still a monthly check-in! 🙂 I am reporting that I revised a manuscript this month but did not write anything new. Which is honestly A-ok, because a huge part of my month was spent finishing this very website. So I’m proud to have gotten any writing done. I wrote a total of 5 new manuscripts this year, and I am excited about the prospects for a couple of them. I’ve got a couple close to submission-ready, and two more that are mid-stream in revisions. So a lot to work with in 2023.
What about you? Did you complete a draft and/or revision in December? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. December Featured Author Amanda Davis is offering one 12 x 12 member a signed copy of 30,000 STITCHES: THE INSPIRING STORY OF THE NATIONAL 9/11 FLAG or a signed copy of MOONLIGHT MEMORIES when it releases in June 2023.
Here’s what you need to do to check in for a chance to win:
- See the Rafflecopter widget at the end of this post.
- Click on the “Comment on Amanda’s post” button. Commenting on Amanda’s post is mandatory for this giveaway and you can enter the Rafflecopter even if you didn’t write a draft this month. Click ENTER.
- If you haven’t commented on Amanda’s post yet, go to the post here to comment. Then come back to this post to enter the Rafflecopter. (Commenting won’t enter you in the drawing automatically, you must enter the Rafflecopter by following step 2.)
- Click on the “Wrote a PB Draft” button. This will ask if you completed a PB draft in December. If you did, click ENTER, if not, click cancel and move on to the next step.
- Click on the last “Revised a PB Draft” button. This will ask if you revised a PB in December. If you did, click ENTER. If not, click cancel.
- That’s it! There is no overall submit button or email confirmation. Rafflecopter will track your points. (The top of the Rafflecopter will say X/3 with X being the number of entries you currently have in the drawing.)
Here’s a video tutorial on the forum to walk you through these steps as well. Click here for the monthly check-in tutorial.
You have until midnight Eastern on January 7th to enter your results. Rafflecopter will draw a winner and it will be announced on the blog on January 8th.
Remember, badges are not awarded automatically and must be requested in the forum. If you haven’t requested your December 2022 badges yet, they will be available to request after you register for 12 x 12 in 2023.

Great post.
So excited to have completed 12 new manuscripts in 2022. My first time since joining 12×12 about five years ago. Looking forward to all 2023 brings.
I completed a new draft and revisions every month, a first for me.
I completed a revision and new draft each month in 2022!
Great post as we head into 2023!!
I revised a couple of drafts.
I revised two PB manuscripts in December.
Great post!
I wrote a draft for December, but began 12×12 in February 2022 so have 1 more manuscript and badge to go!
So inspiring!
Some revising here, but definitely needing a vacation from everything right now.
I revised in Dec. and wrote more manuscripts than I thought this year. I wrote 5! I kept forgetting to do the check-ins. It was a fun year of learning with 12×12. My resolution next year is to write 12!
I completed a new draft and revision in December.
I revised two PB drafts in December.
I wrote a new draft for each month and revised each draft. I went overboard and wrote 25+drafts and some revised.
I only completed one new ms draft and six revisions in 2022, though December’s is nearly submission-ready. As a first year 12x12er, it’s less than I’d hoped to accomplish but mainly due to the demands of a family members’ on-going health issues. My goal for 2023 is to jumpstart the submission process and write more new manuscripts. Thank you for a fun year of learning within an amazingly supportive, helpful and knowledgeable community!
I wrote a new manuscript & revised s very old manuscript
Working on refining my text and completing illustrations for my manuscript.
I wrote thirteen new or revised manuscripts during the year. I am bad about revising and not starting anew. Writing new ideas got me out of the rut.
Ok – This year I plan to submit something to 12 x 12!
