Hey everyone! OMG, how is it going to be MAY tomorrow? I’m not ready! LOL.
The reason I’m late posting this check-in is because I’m frantically working on a revision that’s due for a workshop tonight. I am a bit more deadline-driven than I’d like.
What about you?
- Did you complete a draft of a new picture book story in April?
- Did you complete a revision of a previous picture book manuscript in April?
- Did you post a review of a 12 x 12 member book on Amazon, GoodReads, or Barnes and Noble?
- Did you request that your local library purchase a 12 x 12 member’s book that they don’t currently have in circulation?
Let us know in the Rafflecopter and the comments.
April Featured Author Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson is offering one lucky 12 x 12 member a signed copy of THE MOCHI MAKERS.
Such a sweet book! Thank you, Sharon!

I revised “Double Dazzle” and submitted it to a contest through SCBWI. First contest I’ve submitted to.
I started Renee La Tulippe’s Lyrical Language Lab (self-paced)- LOVE it and picked up an old draft that needs the help from this course. Started my revision of “The Magic of The Park” (title to be revised)
Good luck with your submission Abby! I also started the Lyrical Language Lab course in April. I’m learning a lot.
Revised a book based on citique group feedback and wrote a rough draft of another book.
Sharon, your book looks so yummy. I think of food a lot too. I don’t have cancer, but I do have an autoimmune disease called Stiff Person Syndrome and last summer I had a bad attack and I lost the ability to swallow solid food since last June. I live on pureed food, milkshakes, whipped potatoes, mashed carrots and broccoli. The muscles in my throat barely move. I have lost 46 pounds and I am also in a wheelchair. I just got in 12×12 and you are my first post. I’ve been writing since 2009Good luck on your book. I’ll tell all of my fellow writers outside of 12×12. I don’t know anyone and I a not navigating very well. Good Luck it’s a winner.
I wrote a new draft and revised many drafts in April! Glad to do this month’s check in, I always forget about this. Sharon’s book looks precious!
Such a sweet book, Sharon! Thanks for sharing!
A special book and good luck with it.

I wrote two new pb drafts, which both feature witches and a little bit of magic. I also worked on some revisions, started Lyrical Language Lab, read a writing craft book, and read many many picture books. I’m always wishing for more time to write, read, and revise. I can’t get enough.
Such evocative writing and emotion, Sharon! I loved the line “Obaachan squeezes my small hands like they’re a mound of rice.”
Checked the book out at library and compared it to other books, noted interesting details on my Goodreads account and showed it to critique partners during google meeting.
