Summer Writing Contest!

Summer Writing Contest!

Experiencing summer brain drain? Feel like there’s quicksand in your keyboard? Kids separating you from your writing?

Never fear! 12 x 12 and Ripple Grove Press are sizzling up summer by offering an exclusive writing contest for 12 x 12 members.

Full details will be available in the Forum, but just to whet your appetite, here are the basics:

  • The contest is open to ALL (and only) 12 x 12 members regardless of level and/or publication history. Open to published and pre-published authors with or without agents.
  • Participants will be given one month to write a picture book using the title provided by Ripple Grove Press.
  • RGP will read ALL submissions. Some may receive feedback.
  • Winner will receive a consultation with RGP about their manuscript and other works in progress.
  • Runner-up will receive a RGP book of his/her choice.
  • Rob Broder, of Ripple Grove Press, will join us in October for an exclusive webinar, just for 12 x 12 members, where he shares his thoughts about the submissions he receives, what he liked about the winners in particular, and tips for all members to improve their writing and submissions.
  • RGP will have first right of refusal on submitted manuscripts. That means they may offer a book contract or contracts to participants up to a specific date (TBD). Of course, if offered a contract, participants may accept or decline.
  • The contest focus is on motivation, inspiration, and fun, NOT on book contracts, which may or may not be offered at all.
  • Participants who do not receive offers by the specified date may submit their manuscripts elsewhere, but must change the title prior to submission.
  • The deadline to submit your manuscript for the contest is August 17.

Again, full submission and participation guidelines will be provided on the Forum.

12xers, rev your engines, sharpen your pencils, and dust off those laptops! Ready, Set, WRITE!
