Jean Reidy is a children’s author and two-time winner of the Colorado Book Award. Her books include TOO PURPLEY! , TOO PICKLEY!, TOO PRINCESSY! and ALL THROUGH MY TOWN (all published by Bloomsbury and Scholastic) and  LIGHT UP THE NIGHT (Disney Hyperion and Scholastic) and TIME OUT FOR MONSTERS! (Disney Hyperion) with more on the way. In addition to her books for children, Jean’s articles have appeared in over fifty publications. Jean is a frequent presenter at national and local literacy, writing and education conferences  and at schools across the country – in person and via Skype. She is a member of the Colorado Council International Reading Association, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Colorado Author’s League and proud board member of Reach Out and Read Colorado. In 2011, her “Light Up the Library” Auction, in partnership  with Books for Africa, filled the library at Musana Children’s Home in Iganga, Uganda. Originally from Highland Park, Illinois, Jean earned a BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from New York University. She spent the first years of her professional career in public accounting at Price Waterhouse and then teaching at University of Colorado Denver before leaving the business world to raise her family. In addition to reading and writing, she enjoys bike riding, skiing and giving back as an avid community volunteer. Jean is married to Mike and has four children, a granddaughter and hoards of nieces and nephews who provide her endless creative inspiration. Jean lives right across the street from her neighborhood library … which she visits nearly every day. She is represented by Erin Murphy of Erin Murphy Literary Agency.
