12 X 12 Standard Banner

Folks, we have but one month left in the 12 x 12 challenge this year. It’s always both an exciting and bittersweet time. Exciting because we have a shiny new year ahead with new possibilities for our writing. Bittersweet because the current year of writing and community is coming to a close. There will be tallying and assessing and, hopefully, lots of writing as we aim to end this year on a high note, possibly even as a winner of this year’s 12 x 12 challenge!

For this month, I did not write a new draft. But I did lots and lots and lots of writing and revising. I was fortunate enough to go to Highlights to study again with the great Jane Yolen. I kept the momentum after I left and feel more engaged with my writing now than I have in a long time. So even without a new draft, I am pleased with this month’s progress.

How about you?

Tell us your progress. Did you complete a draft and/or revision in November? Let us know in the Rafflecopter and in the comments. One lucky winner will receive a copy of WEIRD BUT TRUE: RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES 3 from this month’s Featured Author Alison Pearce Stevens.

  1. I did write a draft though there are so many holes in the story, it’s quite drafty. I spent most of my time this month revising other manuscripts.

  2. November was productive for me. I wrote a draft and worked on a couple of revisions. It’s hard to think about the year coming to a close. Looking forward to the rest of 12×12 2018!

  3. I wrote THREE new drafts this month thanks to an eleven hour flight AND revised one story. I need to pump out 2 more drafts in December to WIN THIS CHALLENGE… We shall see.

  4. Thank goodness for Susanna Hill’s Holiday Contest…I wrote a story for that so November draft is checked off! And because an editor wasn’t crazy about a new pb I wrote last month, I had to completely revise/rewrite it…will finish polishing it in the next few weeks and then I’ll send it off to her…fingers crossed she’ll be happy with the new one.

  5. I thought that this might be the month that I didn’t write a draft at all . . . but I did come up with a draft, and I revised it a little bit. Can’t believe it’s been almost an entire year!

  6. A slow start to the month but I got a creative burst halfway through that led me to completing a new draft, and I’ve been revising two manuscripts following critiques. I cannot believe there’s only one month to go … really want to keep that momentum going and make it to a full house of 12 new drafts by year end!

  7. November has been an amazing month of all the hard work paying off! And like Vivian K said, TG for the Halloweensie contest; I found an appreciation & passion for writing short but strong; I even placed in the top 14! Board books in my future, perhaps? 🙂 Plus I signed with Spork this month–hooray!! December will be a month of revising & enjoying the holiday season (I promise to work extra hard in January :> )
